{"id":454,"date":"2003-07-27T09:49:35","date_gmt":"2003-07-27T09:49:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jasonbassford.com\/?p=454"},"modified":"2021-11-12T20:11:58","modified_gmt":"2021-11-13T01:11:58","slug":"the_good_and_th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jasonbassford.com\/index.php\/2003\/07\/27\/the_good_and_th\/","title":{"rendered":"The good and the bad (thankfully, no ugly)."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest build of Mozilla includes a <a href=\"http:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=147679\">fix<\/a> for a relatively long-standing MIME type bug that would do things like rename &#8220;file.mpg&#8221; to &#8220;file.mpg.mpeg&#8221; because multiple extensions were defined for the MIME type and it would insist on saving anything you downloaded with the <i>first<\/i> extension in the definition list.  It&#8217;s nice to not see that problem any more.<\/p>\n<p>However, seemingly at the same time (although it may well have been started earlier than this and I just never noticed), Mozilla now <a href=\"http:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=213985\">hangs<\/a>, causing you to have to shut it down <i>and<\/i> manually kill the process, whenever you try to download a .tar.gz file.  Apparently this happens with Firebird too.  (It&#8217;s not clear if it happens on any platform other than Win32.)<\/p>\n<p><b>Update<\/b>: Oh, yes.  I forgot to mention that for the past week or so, Mozilla has insisted on <a href=\"http:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=213733\">&#8220;forgetting&#8221;<\/a> that it&#8217;s the default browser.
